Jogita Govind, L&D Operations Manager and Apprenticeship Lead for Travis Perkins Plc has been attending the Apprenticeship Accelerator (founded by Bally Bhogal of LX Group Ltd and Natalie Rae of Natalie Rae Consultancy Ltd) since its inception in early 2025.
The Apprenticeship Accelerator is a best practice network, created to enable apprenticeship training providers to work together to resolve everyday apprenticeship challenges, risks and issues. Topics of discussion are determined through collation of data via a scorecard diagnostic which pinpoints the problems that providers are experiencing. Apprenticeship Accelerator sessions are held online, every 2 months (facilitated by Bally and Natalie) and last up to 2 hours. Areas covered include apprenticeship theory, practice, worked-examples of solutions and sharing of best practice models and frameworks for application in real-time. Each session offers a real sense of community, sharing of ideas and trust that is unrivalled through any other formats; it is so much more than just a webinar.
One of the sessions Jogita attended was the “Performance Management” session where best practice methodologies for managing apprenticeship performance were shared by the facilitators and further enriched by other providers (members) of the AA community. This is what she had to say about the impact of being involved in the AA forum:
“With the lessons learned at the Apprenticeship Performance Management session, I’ve re-emphasised the “zoom in, zoom out” approach, which has been crucial for our team, especially with our new data lead. I now start every session by having the team “zoom out” and look at our high-level KPIs like QAR and retention.
This helps my new data lead immediately see how their work connects to our strategic goals. We then “zoom in” to discuss detailed metrics. This shift has made our conversations more productive; instead of just reporting numbers, he is now empowered to analyse insights and be more productive in our approach.”
“Before the forum, our team often felt isolated in tackling issues like low engagement or apprentice withdrawals.”
Jogita provided further explanation around the key benefits and the direct results of being involved in the Apprenticeship Accelerator forum; this is what she had to say:
“A key benefit of the Apprenticeship Accelerator forum is the invaluable opportunity to discuss common themes and challenges with like-minded individuals. Before the forum, our team often felt isolated in tackling issues like low engagement or apprentice withdrawals.
The forum revealed that these are common industry challenges, allowing us to collaboratively brainstorm solutions. The group also provides a platform to discuss and adopt best practices in the face of an evolving apprenticeship landscape. We’ve been able to discuss new regulations, funding changes, and emerging technologies with people who are actively navigating them, ensuring our program remains agile and effective.”
